Kuta

Kuta, on Bali's southwestern coast, is the island's original tourist hub and a classic introduction to Indonesia's party-and-surf culture. The long, golden beach still draws surfers for its consistent breaks, while the lively strip behind it buzzes with bars, restaurants, and shops. It's chaotic, crowded, and undeniably electric — perfect for first-timers who want to be in the thick of it.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most travellers spend 2–3 days in Kuta, using it as a base for nearby beaches and cultural sites. It's also a convenient stopover for a night or two upon arrival or departure from Ngurah Rai Airport, which is just 15 minutes away. If you're not into nightlife, a day trip to the beach and Waterbom might suffice before moving on to calmer Seminyak or Ubud.
