Wong Nai Chung Gap, a saddle between Mount Nicholson and Jardine's Lookout on Hong Kong Island, is a place where nature and wartime history converge. Once a strategic defensive position during the Battle of Hong Kong in 1941, the gap is now a tranquil, green corridor that offers walkers a chance to explore rugged trails, WWII relics, and surprising views over the island's southern coastline. It's a quiet counterpoint to the city's bustle, ideal for a half-day of discovery.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 2–3 hours exploring the gap, the trail, and one of the nearby peaks. If you plan to hike both Jardine's Lookout and Mount Nicholson, allow 4–5 hours. The area is best visited in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat, and it can be combined with a trip to the south side of the island for lunch in Stanley or Repulse Bay.
