Chai Wan, at the eastern tip of Hong Kong Island, is a fascinating blend of gritty industrial heritage, coastal walks, and authentic local life. Often overlooked by tourists, this district rewards the curious with a glimpse into Hong Kong's manufacturing past, a surprisingly lush hiking trail, and some of the best seafood on the island. It's a perfect half-day escape from the central frenzy.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Half a day is sufficient to explore Chai Wan's key attractions. Start at Law Uk Folk Museum (30 minutes), then wander through Chai Wan Park (45 minutes). Dedicate 1.5–2 hours for the Cape Collinson Coastal Walk. If you plan to hike the Dragon's Back, add a full day. Pair Chai Wan with a visit to Shek O or Big Wave Bay for a combined east-coast adventure.
