Flinders Chase National Park is a wild, windswept sanctuary on the western end of Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Here, the Southern Ocean crashes against dramatic granite cliffs, and the bush is alive with kangaroos, wallabies, and koalas. This is a place for raw, elemental beauty — think rugged coastal walks, iconic rock formations, and a sense of isolation that feels a world away from the mainland.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors dedicate a full day to Flinders Chase, starting early from Kingscote or American River. The drive from the ferry terminal at Penneshaw takes about 1.5 hours, so plan to arrive by mid-morning. A loop of the main sights — Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, and a short coastal walk — takes 3–4 hours. For a deeper experience, add a hike on the Platypus Waterholes Walk or the Ravine des Casoars Wilderness Trail, which can fill another half-day. Overnight camping is available at designated sites if you want to catch sunrise at the rocks.
