Eumundi, a charming hinterland town in the Sunshine Coast region, is best known for its legendary Eumundi Markets, one of Australia’s largest and most vibrant artisan markets. But beyond the stalls, this historic timber town offers a relaxed country vibe, creative energy, and a gateway to the lush Noosa Hinterland. Whether you're browsing handmade crafts, sipping locally roasted coffee, or exploring nearby national parks, Eumundi is a perfect detour from the coastal crowds.
Highlights & What to See
- Eumundi Markets – Held every Wednesday and Saturday, these sprawling markets are a treasure trove of local art, jewellery, clothing, and gourmet food. Arrive early to beat the crowds and grab a famous woodfired pizza or a cold-brew coffee.
- Historic Main Street – Stroll along Memorial Drive, lined with heritage-listed buildings that now house quirky boutiques, galleries, and cafes. Don’t miss the Imperial Hotel, a classic Queensland pub with a great beer garden.
- Eumundi Brewery – A microbrewery serving up craft beers and ciders in a rustic setting. Try the popular Eumundi Lager or the seasonal brews, and pair them with a tasting paddle.
- Noosa Botanic Gardens – Just 10 minutes south, these free gardens offer peaceful walks through rainforest, along the lake, and past stunning floral displays. Perfect for a picnic.
- Kondalilla National Park – A short drive away, this park features the spectacular Kondalilla Falls, where you can swim in a natural rock pool. The 4.5km circuit walk is a must for nature lovers.
Suggested Time to Spend
Most visitors spend a half-day in Eumundi, ideally timed around a market day (Wednesday or Saturday). Arrive by 8am to explore the markets for a couple of hours, then grab lunch and wander the main street. If you want to combine it with a bushwalk, allow a full day – start with the markets, then head to Kondalilla National Park or the Botanic Gardens in the afternoon. For a relaxed pace, stay overnight in one of the local B&Bs or farm stays.
