Ek Balam is a magnificent Maya archaeological site in the Yucatán Peninsula, known for its stunning architecture and intricate stucco reliefs. Unlike the more crowded Chichén Itzá, Ek Balam offers a more intimate and authentic experience, allowing you to climb many of its structures and marvel at well-preserved carvings. The site's name means 'Black Jaguar' in Maya, and it was a thriving city from roughly 300 BCE to 1200 CE.
