Set among rolling green hills about 40 minutes from Canberra, the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) is one of only three facilities worldwide that form NASA's Deep Space Network. This is where humanity talks to its far-flung robotic explorers — from the Voyager probes now in interstellar space to rovers on Mars. The complex's iconic 70-metre dish antenna dominates the landscape, and the visitor centre offers a fascinating, family-friendly glimpse into space exploration. It’s a uniquely Australian experience that connects you directly to the cosmos.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1.5 to 2 hours here. Start in the visitor centre to get context, then walk out to see the antennas. If you’re on a guided tour, allow an extra hour. The complex is open daily from 9am to 5pm (except Christmas Day) and admission is free. It’s best combined with a half-day trip from Canberra or as a stop en route to the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve.
