Benoa Harbour
Benoa Harbour, on Bali’s southeastern coast, is the island’s main cruise-ship and ferry gateway, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s just a transit point. This bustling harbour offers a front-row seat to local maritime life, with traditional outriggers bobbing alongside luxury yachts. The surrounding area is a launchpad for water sports, seafood feasts, and glimpses of Bali’s working harbour culture.
Highlights & What to See
- Harbour Cruise & Sunset Views – Take a short boat tour around the harbour to see fishing boats, cargo ships, and the distant outline of Mount Agung. Sunset from the harbour wall is a local favourite.
- Tanjung Benoa Beach – Just south of the harbour, this calm beach is perfect for jet-skiing, parasailing, and banana-boat rides. The water is shallow and safe for beginners.
- Seafood Warungs at Jimbaran Bay – A 10-minute drive away, Jimbaran’s beachfront grilled-fish stalls offer the freshest catch, eaten with your feet in the sand under the stars.
- Bali Turtle Island – A short boat ride from Benoa leads to this conservation island where you can see sea turtles up close and even release hatchlings (seasonal).
- Water Blow at Nusa Dua – Head east to see dramatic waves crashing into a rocky blowhole, sending spray high into the air – a natural spectacle best at high tide.
Suggested Time to Spend
Half a day is enough to soak up the harbour vibe, enjoy a water-sport session, and grab a seafood lunch. If you’re using Benoa as a cruise port, allow 4–6 hours for a taste of the area. For a more relaxed pace, combine it with a full day exploring the Nusa Dua and Jimbaran coastline.
