Andalucia White Villages

Perched on rugged hilltops like pearls strung across the Andalusian countryside, the white villages (pueblos blancos) of southern Spain are a photographer's dream and a traveller's delight. These dazzlingly whitewashed settlements, many with Moorish origins, are surrounded by olive groves, cork oaks, and dramatic mountain scenery. Wandering their labyrinthine cobbled streets, you'll discover vibrant flower pots, ancient churches, and breathtaking viewpoints. The region is also a gateway to exploring Spain's rich history, from Roman ruins to Moorish fortresses, and offers some of the best hiking and cycling routes in Europe.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

To truly soak in the white villages, plan at least three to four days. This allows you to explore a handful of the most iconic pueblos at a relaxed pace, with time for hikes in the Grazalema Natural Park or a side trip to Ronda. If you're self-driving, a loop from Seville or Málaga works perfectly: spend two nights in the Grazalema area and one in Ronda. For a deeper dive, add a week to combine with Cádiz or the Costa del Sol.
