Cape Leveque

Perched at the northern tip of the Dampier Peninsula, Cape Leveque is a breathtakingly remote headland where the red ochre cliffs of the Kimberley plunge into the turquoise Indian Ocean. This is a place of profound Indigenous significance—home to the Bardi Jawi people—and offers a rare blend of ancient culture, pristine beaches, and rugged coastal beauty. Reaching here is an adventure in itself, requiring a 4WD along the red-dirt Cape Leveque Road from Broome, but the reward is a sense of isolation and raw natural splendor that feels worlds away from everyday life.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors base themselves at Cape Leveque for at least 2–3 nights to truly unwind and explore. A day trip from Broome is technically possible but feels rushed—you'd spend 5–6 hours on the road and miss the sunset magic. Better to arrive early afternoon, settle into accommodation, and enjoy a full next day exploring the Cape's highlights before heading back. For a deeper immersion, stay 3–4 nights, allowing time for a pearl farm tour, a cultural experience, and a day simply beachcombing or snorkeling.
