Kyneton is a charming gold-rush-era town on the Campaspe River, just over an hour north-west of Melbourne. Its tree-lined streets are packed with bluestone buildings, antique shops, and a thriving food scene that makes it a perfect day-trip or weekend stop on the Calder Freeway. The town's weekend farmers' market is legendary, and the nearby Macedon Ranges offer excellent hiking and wine tasting.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

You can explore Kyneton's main street and gardens in a few hours, but to really appreciate the food and wine, plan for a full day. If you want to add a winery visit or hike at Hanging Rock, stay overnight in one of the town's lovely B&Bs. A weekend allows you to hit the Saturday market and explore the wider region.
