About 200 kilometres south of Darwin, the Douglas Daly Hot Springs offer a blissful outback soak where the Daly River meets natural geothermal springs. Surrounded by paperbark trees and red cliffs, this is a place to unwind after days of exploring the Northern Territory's rugged landscapes. The warm, mineral-rich water flows into clear rock pools, creating a natural spa that feels a world away from anything. It's a favourite stop for self-drive travellers heading along the Stuart Highway, and the nearby Daly River region adds excellent fishing and wildlife-watching opportunities.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most travellers spend a half-day to a full day at the hot springs, combining a long soak with a picnic lunch and a short walk along the river. If you're camping, one night is ideal – arrive in the late afternoon, enjoy the springs at sunset, and leave the next morning. For self-drive itineraries, it's a perfect stopover between Darwin and Katherine (about 2.5 hours from each).
