South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula unfurls south of Adelaide like a secret waiting to be discovered. With its dramatic coastline, rolling vineyards, and sleepy beach towns, this is where locals escape the city rhythm. Here, you can taste world-class cool-climate wines, spot wild koalas dozing in coastal trees, and watch the sun sink into the Southern Ocean from a clifftop lookout. The peninsula feels both rugged and refined—a place where a morning surf can slide into an afternoon of cellar-door tastings.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Give the Fleurieu Peninsula at least two full days—three if you want to hike and swim. A classic itinerary: base yourself in McLaren Vale for night one, spending the afternoon tasting wines and exploring the Cube. Day two, drive south via Willunga to the coast, stopping at Port Elliott and Victor Harbor, then overnight in a beachside cabin in Deep Creek Conservation Park. On day three, hike the Deep Creek trails before heading back to Adelaide. The loop road from Adelaide is an easy 90-minute drive, so you can also do key highlights as day trips, but you'll miss the sunset magic.
