Voh is a small, tranquil village on the northwest coast of New Caledonia’s main island, Grand Terre. It’s best known for the iconic Heart of Voh (Cœur de Voh), a natural mangrove formation shaped like a perfect heart that became famous after appearing on the cover of a National Geographic issue. The area is a haven for nature lovers, offering pristine mangroves, rich birdlife, and a relaxed pace of life. The nearby Tiwaka River and its deep gorges provide dramatic landscapes, while the local culture is deeply rooted in Kanak traditions.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a half-day in Voh itself, combining a walk to the heart viewpoint (or a scenic flight) with a visit to the Tiwaka Gorges. If you’re staying in Koné or Pouembout, it’s an easy morning or afternoon trip. To fully appreciate the area’s natural beauty and immerse yourself in local culture, consider overnighting in one of the small guesthouses (gîtes) in the village – a full day allows for a guided mangrove tour, a swim at the beach, and a sunset drive to the gorges.
