Perched on the edge of Lamington National Park’s Numinbah Valley, Binna Burra is a gateway to one of Australia’s most ancient and biodiverse rainforests. This mountain retreat, established in the 1930s, offers a perfect blend of heritage charm and raw nature. The air is crisp, the birdlife is prolific, and the walking trails lead you through towering Antarctic beech trees and past cascading waterfalls. It’s a place where you can disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the wild – all within a two-hour drive from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Binna Burra rewards a full day or an overnight stay. If you’re short on time, a morning walk on the Caves Circuit followed by lunch at the lodge makes a satisfying half-day trip from the coast. For hikers wanting to tackle the Border Track, plan an early start and allow 6–8 hours one way (you’ll need a car shuffle or pre-arranged transport). An overnight stay in the lodge or one of the nearby campgrounds lets you experience the forest at dawn and dusk, when wildlife is most active.
